Truly Happy

One would think I could come up with a more clever way to describe the peace and sense of completeness I feel when I'm around my friends from college. However, every time I am with them I catch myself thinking, "This is how it feels to be truly happy."

My friends are brilliant, hilarious, giving people. I have been blessed by them a million times over. We are in four different states but I think we do a fair job of seeing each other. It is not nearly enough, of course, but they've never stopped making me feel like I was a high priority to them.

We've gone on to advanced degrees, travel, marriages, parenthood, and a few impressively successful careers. It's a far cry from spending every waking (and sleeping) moment together like we did at Waldorf. But somehow we've managed to grow closer instead of further apart.

I love them. I miss them. I am thankful every day for their friendship.

Our group shots require a bit more effort these days. I see that Tali, ever the organizer, is the one asking Sam to join the group. Meanwhile, Beckett is wielding a toy pulled off of Matilda's exersaucer.

L-R: Emilie and Matilda, Tali and Beckett, Ben, Amy and Nolan, Joy, and Sam

I wish someone had told me to sit on the other arm of the chair, and that Sam had been in the shot and cooperating, but otherwise I love this picture. Look at those faces! Truly happy.

Oh Em, this post caught me off guard. These get togethers are always bittersweet... so much fun and just like old times and then needing a few days to feel sorry for myself that my friends are back at their homes. Good thing you have a well written, clever blog that I can get my fix with. The blog showcases two of your greatest talents: writing and parenting.

And, if Chad was a comm major instead of a business major maybe he would have told you to sit on the chair. We'll have to give him a break because you know how business majors are. =) And I love that I'm bossing your kid around in this picture (even though you so gently called it organizing, another gift of yours!!)

Love you Em. I'm so glad you were able to visit and can't wait until next time.

These weekends make me feel whole. I am thankful everyday for your friendship and feel lucky to have you as a friend.

I can't wait until the next time we can get together and just be ourselves.

I love you so much!
