We do a lot of singing around here. Well, okay, I do a lot of singing. I blame it on the kids. I never used to go around making up songs about everything I was doing. Perhaps, in a small way, I’ve lost my mind.
Both of my kids have songs that are just theirs. Several were made up but they also get remixed classics. Sam has “Mr. Sam-man (Bring Me A Dream)” and “Mr. Sam-bourine Man” sung to him all the time. I had no idea how often I sing Matilda’s song until today. From another room, I listened to Sam sing to his sister:
Oh, Matidda,
You breakin’ my heart
You shakin’ my ton-fa-donce baby
Oh-oh Mattie
I down on my knees
I beddin’ you please come home
Singin’ songs in the atternoon wi’ Matidda
In the living room (singing songs!)
I have to get it on video. Someday Matilda won't believe that her brother used to serenade her!
