A Long Night

Ugh. Sickness has finally hit our house.

Yesterday Sam had a runny nose. In the afternoon he added a cough. I propped him up with pillows when he went to bed and he seemed fine. An hour later he woke up crying and warm. I gave him something to bring down his fever and he fell back asleep.

I went to bed, hoping for the best. Right around midnight I heard Sam wailing. I got up and found Eric and Sam in the laundry room. Sam had thrown up and Eric was washing pajamas and sheets. I tried to get Sam to sit with me so Eric could get some sleep. Sam was delirious. He was rambling and making no sense. Finally I went back to bed and left Eric and Sam to try to make it through the night.

I didn't sleep long before being woken up by Matilda. Sam wandered into my room not long after that looking much better than before. He isn't delirious so far today but he is still really, really sick.

The little guy is still cracking us up, though. Last night, as he was weeping and rambling, I managed to force some medicine down his throat. He coughed it down and Eric handed him his softie. Looking at both of us with bleary eyes, he said sweetly, "Thank you," before slumping back into the couch.

My poor little sweetheart!

The poor little guy! I hope he's feeling better by Friday. He shouldn't be sick on his birthday.

We have that exact same thing right now. We were probably dealing with puke at the same time last night. How funny.

What a sweet boy...even in the midst of illness he still remembers to mind his manners!
