Oh Happy Day

Matilda is a content baby. She falls apart every once in a while but really - who doesn't?

One thing that has driven her crazy since the day she was born was her thumb. She has wanted so badly to suck her thumb. Every time she tried she'd have her thumb tucked under her other four fingers and she would get SO MAD. I tried prying it out for her but that just made her angrier. I've given her a nuk, which she sometimes likes, but it's never been quite right.

A few days ago Matilda was fussing in her chair as I made dinner. Suddenly all was quiet. I turned to see her sucking furiously on her thumb, her eyes huge. She was so shocked she had finally done it and it looked like she thought it was worth the wait.

Now, when she is being ignored, she simply finds her thumb. It takes a moment or two but she's getting better at it. Now she just needs to work on not poking herself in the eye with the rest of her fingers. She is not sleeping in these pictures - she's keeping her eyes shut so she doesn't gouge them out.

I think Grant is going to be a thumb sucker. He hates the nuk and I randomly hear this sucking/slurping sound and he is sucking on the outside of his hand!

I haven't seen Matilda for forever! She getting prettier all the time. I love her round rosy cheeks and the little dimpled fingers. She's adorable even with her hand covering her face.

Absolutely adorable! That is exactly what Kadin does...he's a month older and still working on it!
