We are all feeling a lot better. We're still going through Kleenexes like crazy but no one has had a fever for the last 12 hours, thank goodness.
Yesterday morning Sam and I were snuggling on the couch. Trying to make him feel better, I asked him if he could tell me a joke. His eyes brightened (just a little) and he said yes. Never having told a joke before, he thought long and hard. Finally he turned to me and said, "I puked on Dad's bed." Maybe not the right format - but I found his joke very funny!
Later in the day he was gathering all of his little people and animals on the coffee table. Their conversations revolved around going to church. Once they were all lined up, Sam said, "Okay. Now go to church! Hmmm...where church?"
"You're looking for the church, Sam?" I asked.
"Yes," he answered.
"Let's see," I said. "What does the church look like?"
"Empty," he said.
"Empty?" I asked.
"Yeah," Sam said, gesturing at the little crowd of people. "All the dudes are here."
Even when he's sick, Sam is a lot of fun.

I can't wait to hear more jokes! Emilie's jokes, at three years old, went something like this: "Why does Grandma's plate have food on it?" Answer: "Because Nickie barked at the squirrel." (Bryce used to mock-shoot himself in the head after listening to Emilie tell a joke.)
