Blades Of Fun

Sam and Eric have a lot of weird games. I usually chalk it up to testosterone and don't try to understand. One of Sam's favorite things to do is sit in the living room with Eric and watch him throw toys onto the ceiling fan. Eric sits on the floor and tosses stuffed animals up until all of them are resting on a fan blade. Sam laughs hysterically through the whole thing. He laughs so hard he gets the hiccups and asks for a glass of water.

Eric watched the kids on Saturday, and this is what I came home to:

To give a sense of perspective, I took a picture of all of them. The fan is pretty high when one is sitting on the floor.

Poor Matilda. She was stuck there in her exersaucer watching the whole thing. Once I was home, the stuffed animals were forgotten and Eric and Sam were doing puzzles. When Sam wants his animals again Eric just turns on the fan and speeds it up until they shoot off. I think THAT is fun but it's the one part neither of them think is funny.

I don't get it.

I don't get it either. And poor Matilda! I'm sure she thought they were more crazed than normal. However I'm sure she thought as I did, that it was a great way to dust off the fan blades.

As a young boy a friend of mine would put the little mints that his mother would serve during her bridge parties on the fan blades. When it came time to play she'd turn on the fan and there would be mints everywhere.
