Cookie Monster

Yesterday afternoon Sam, Matilda and I were playing in the living room. I got a text from Jackie, asking, "Has Cookie Monster been replaced with Veggie Monster?"

After taking a second to reorient myself to a conversation about Muppets, I replied, "No...Cookie Monster just now knows that cookies aren't an all-the-time food. Why?"

She replied, "We heard that blue Cookie Monster was gone and green Veggie Monster took his place!"

Well. I wasn't going to let something like that just slide. I left my kids upstairs and ran to the computer to check out Snopes. Yes, we were a couple of people in our 30's desperately worried about Cookie Monster. Thankfully, I confirmed that there is NO Veggie Monster and sent Jackie another text.

I went back upstairs to my abandoned children. As I came up I saw Sam sitting on the counter, happily swinging his feet and kicking the cabinets. Next to him was our cookie jar with its lid removed. There he sat, munching away at a cookie in each hand.

There is a lesson for me here...
