Matilda is a really, really smiley baby. She screws up her whole face into huge, gummy grins. Sometimes she adds a little Elvis to the mix. While smiling, she'll wrinkle one side of her lip, forcing one of her squinty eyes totally closed.
No one makes her happier than Sam, and most of her smiles are directed right at him. He seems to think she's trying to play with him. Every time he sees her half-smooshed smile, he delightedly replies, "AAARRRR!" while doing his best pirate face. Most of my day is spent with the two of them happily staring at each other with one eye scrunched closed.
A pirate's life for me, indeed!
