Go Fish

It really does take a village to raise a well-rounded child. I think I've done pretty well with Sam but there are so many things I can't offer him. He learns so much from spending time with all the other people in our lives.

This was proven to me again last night. I needed a break from the kids so I locked myself in the office to play on the computer. Eric stayed with Sam and Matilda in the living room. Through the wall I could hear Eric start to teach Sam how to play Go Fish. I would have never, ever thought to teach him that. Sam and I struggle just playing Chutes and Ladders. So I laughed to myself listening to Eric tell Sam all of the rules.

Well, in just a few minutes I heard Sam playing away like a pro. I couldn't believe it! Already this morning Sam asked me to play cards with him. We played a game of Go Fish from start to end with no prompting on my part. The kid is a card shark.

Just when I think I have Sam figured out, he surprises me again. Hooray for dads...and hooray for a game Sam and I can both enjoy!
