Matilda Jane, you aren't even two months old and there are already so many things I love about you.
You are such a chubby baby. I pray your body is always this strong and healthy.
You light up when you see Sam. I love you for making Sam so happy, and I love that you know a good person when you see one. I hope you always rely on your instincts and trust yourself.
You are always either smiling or frowning. When you feel something, you feel it all the way. There isn't an in-between. Life is best lived with no holding back, and you are off to a perfect start.
You are so relaxed when you are with me. Thank you for trusting that I will take care of you. I feel relaxed when I am with you, too. I am going to work very hard to always keep our relationship close.
You have your dad's eyes. His eyes have been melting my heart for over half my life. Now I get to see him in you, too.
You always look toward the light. At night, when I feed you in the dark, your eyes always travel to the small bit of light coming through the doorway. No matter how dark life can become, there is always light at the end. If nothing else, continue to believe in that.
I love your happy face. I love how you smile and wriggle excitedly when I swaddle you at bedtime. I love how well you sleep at night. I love that you like to be held up so you can see what is going on. I love how easily you joined our family. I expected having a new baby to be a difficult transition for us. You have done nothing but bring us joy and make us feel complete.
You are wanted. You are loved.

This is the most beautifully written affirmation of a mother's love for a child that I have ever read. As I've told you many times in the past, your ability to write is a wonderful gift.
I am balling...
I'll second Grandma Wilson. What a wonderful thing for Matilda to read some day, and again and again when she needs a lift.
